Johana L. Roque

Johana Roque is a first-generation Latina law student at California Western School of Law.

 

Originally from Hawthorne, California Johana Roque is a graduate from University of California, Irvine. She graduated with a degree in Criminology, Law and Society and a degree in Social Ecology.

 

During her time in undergrad, she volunteered with the Prison Education Project, collaborating closely with students in prison and community organizations to raise awareness on issues affecting prisons.

 

She also served as a research assistant with the National Registry of Exonerations (NRE) coding cases and tracking the factors contributing to wrongful convictions and reaching out to conviction integrity units.

 

Further, Johana was a founding volunteer with the Prison Pandemic Project and wrote a research paper on the effects COVID-19 had on people in prison. 

In her free time Johana spends time with her cats Bilbo and Bandita.
