Dwight K. Jones, Jr.
Vice President Of Board
Dwight works as a Director at Urban Alchemy in Northern California where he assists people experiencing houselessness in obtaining housing, medical benefits, and food assistance. Dwight formerly worked as an Ambassador for Five Keys, an organization that employs the use of social and restorative justice principles, and provides traditionally underserved communities the opportunity to improve their lives through a focus on education, employment, recovery, family, and community. Dwight has also completed several programs at Mass Liberation, a re-entry organization in Los Angeles County and one of Cal-IA's partners.

When Dwight was just 19 years old, he was wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole and was released after 21 years as a result of an extensive investigation led by Ms. Baca, who was assisted by Arianna Price and Samantha Perez, and Cal-IA Board Member, Arianne Aparicio. Every letter Dwight wrote to his attorneys was signed, “Dwight Jones, An Innocent Man.”

While he was incarcerated, Dwight led the Lifers With Optimistic Progress (LWOP) Program at Solano State Prison. He also tutored and mentored youth recently sentenced to life in prison. Dwight was also the captain of several championship teams in basketball, football, and baseball.
Before he was wrongfully convicted, Dwight worked as a caregiver to his young sister and at the Housing Authority.
Because of his background, Dwight brings the insider’s perspective to California Innocence Advocates. Through his work at Cal-IA, he continues to fight for those who are unable to advocate for themselves.
